*Wipes a thick layer of dust away from his journal*
I haven't written here in a while. Those of you who have followed my recent visits to St. Mungos on TD have at least an idea as to what's been going on.
It seems needless to say there have been some rough times as of late. My son continues to be the target of illness upon illness. The defeat of one either brings about something new or a quick relapse. The one thing that has finally been eliminated are his ear infections, thanks to the tubes (although three small infections did immediately follow the surgery).
This C-Diff thing is our major concern now. We are now in the process of a second treatment because the first was unsuccessful. This illness can cause a number of problems, some quite severe, if it cannot be beaten. A nasty chest cold (just what his allergy-induced asthma needs) has joined him this time as well. His coughing spells combined with loaded diapers (horrific things I wouldn't think to describe here) keep me awake most of the night now. I did manage a decent sleep last night for the first time in a while though.
I'm exhausted, frustrated, and yet determined to make sure we finish this thing. We also have hope that moving out to a new home in a couple of weeks, away from my father-in-law and his refusal to quit smoking in the house, will help. We've traced the beginnings of David's asthmatic symptoms to the time when my father-in-law decided it was just as good for him to smoke in his room (closing the door makes all the difference - NOT) as it was to take it outside. Whether or not this initiated David's problems, it sure as you-know-what can't be helping it.
Anyway, we'll see how things go, I suppose. I think I'm doing pretty well emotionally considering everything. I've had my bad moments, a near-collapse here and there, but I really think my wife and I are hanging in there pretty good. We have a light at the end of the tunnel. It lies in a duplex about 10 miles away.
