My mum's doing great, thanks lovey. You're all great. Storm pro: It is really awesome to see neighbors who have barely spoken come out and help each other in the face of disaster. For example, I moved into my house little more than a month ago. I had never met most of my neighbors. And then, morning after Charley hit, people from all around come up to our house and start cutting up the tree that fell. Some of them brought rakes and carts. Everyone was helping someone else. Storm con: First of all, I wish they had named the storm Clyde. It still would have been a 'c' name, and would have fit perfectly with the Tropical Storm it followed, Bonnie. Second, humans disgust me. I saw reports on the news of people who's homes had gotten all but destroyed, and then were robbed. How despicable is that?! Grrrr.... Ok, who's seen Edward Scissorhands? I don't think I've ever seen a movie that made me feel so many things so strongly. Johnny Depp is now forever my hero. He says fewer lines then anyone else in that movie, but does the most stellar job. I couldn't help crying when Kim asked him to hold her, and he said he couldn't. He meant it. I am so buying that movie when the post gets up and running again. Once again, I can't tell you how cool it is to have people all around the world who care about me. "I am wrong, I am right, I swear I'm right. Swear I knew it all along."

Edward Scissorhands is one of the great, and unfortunately underappreciated, movies of all time

They got robbed after their homes were destroyed? Ugh...that's disheartening. I face a little of that where I work right now, too. You set up a store so people can come in, appreciate the look and the setup, buy things they want, and have a good shopping experience. But then you find open packages of merchandise hidden under clothes, or empty car cd radio boxes late at night (all indicating stuff was stolen) and the only positive thing I can take from those experiences is that at least the people I work with are honest, and make working there still something I enjoy doing. It makes me appreciate honesty that much more in those that I find it in. Yes, Edward Scissorhands is a very powerful movie. The music is so moving and helps so much with the mood of the movie. And I also agree with what D said too. Johnny Depp has always pulled off such extroadinary acting in all of the characters he's played, but because those characters are always seen as sort of "odd" he hasn't gotten the recognition he deserves. Until just recently with Pirates, and now people are looking back on his movies and going "oh...hey, he's good in this one too!" *hugs* I'm glad you're okay, and that's awesome that people came to help get the tree out of your way. If I may, I came across a quote recently that I really liked, and felt it would be appropriate to share: "The world is full of suffering, but it is also filled with the overcoming of it." -- Helen Keller

Fan, it's great to hear that things are settling down. You know, things like Charley (yes, that is silly name for a hurricane ) always bring out the best and worst in people. I mean, it's nice to show people helping out other people in a genuine act of compassion. But at the same time I'm really cut about the people looting wrecked houses- what an awful thing to do! Some people are just dispicable. But you know what they say about karma... I watched Ed Scissorhands last year at my friend's house. I remember I watched it when it first came out, and then about 5 years ago (because apparently one of the Backstreet Boys was in it ) and then again last year. You know, that is such a beautiful film. You won't believe how much I cried through it. The cookie machine scene. The snow. How everyone was so bastardly. It's just such a big bucket of emotions. *sighs* Have you seen Gilbert Grape as well?

So... so... okay, so you're okay. *is still adrenaline rushing* Lumers and I saw an article in the paper about this big hurricane hitting FL and I was like... "Tasia! Tasia's on that coast!" But you're okay. Okay.
Um. Right, Edward Scissorhands. That would actually be not only one of my favourite flicks ever (of the Lachesis type, if I've subjected you to that theory yet) but would also be... the last one I bought, just a couple of weeks ago
What I like about it, besides the mad-weird-excellent sets (whoever did the art direction is awesome) and the direction (let's see - list of Burton films I haven't liked - erm - none)... it's this wonderful inside-out Beauty and the Beast story (Edward may look like he should be the Beast, but he's the one with the heart of gold who awakens the suburban-selfish, if pretty, Beast Kim). And it's also a Frankenstein story, except without the angst (if you've ever read the actual Frankenstein you know what I mean - it's all 'oh, the darkness of my soul, oh, what have I done, blah blah blah), with the beautiful little moments about being The Created trying to relate to The Creator.
And better than both of those - though both of those story types are favourites of mine - is the awakening (not necessarily acceptance, but awakening) that takes place in the neighbourhood (Clotho-type, again if you're following with my latest film theory ). I'm all about art being visible in the world, and more importantly, all about the ruckus it causes ;D
So yeah. Excellent flick. In fact, thanks for reminding me of it, because it goes perfectly into the middle of my latest diagrammatic film theory thingy.
(And I cried at the "I can't" line too, partly because my aunt had just been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and couldn't move her arms anymore to hold her little five-year-old son. )
...Aw, man, What's Eating Gilbert Grape is excellent too!
Mostly I'm glad you're okay. Yeah. *hugs*
side note: looters make me ill. Theft is bad, but usually understandable, sort of like predation between animals is understandable; but bottom feeders have always grossed me out, and looters are definitely bottom feeders. Boo.

School has been cancelled all week, due to lack of power. I'm not schedualed to get mine back until Saturday morning. But I can assure you, I am definitely ok. Woo...forget waiting for the post. I bought it at Wally World (code for Walmart) for 10 bucks and watched it today...this time I cried buckets when she told him she loved him, and his eyes lit up...he smiled. How terribly sad is that? He knows he's never going to see her again, and he will never see another human, he'll be alone in that old house forever, dreaming of her...but he's happy with the thought of her loving him. And that's enough. It made me want to scream "How can that be enough!?" because his story's so sad...he deserves a happily ever after. I wanted to hug him so badly in some parts of the movie. But there I go, getting my undies in a knot over a movie that is totally fictional...*sniffs anyway* So sad... I'm being redundant. Please pardon me. I hate redundancy. We're all missing you on TD, En. But don't let it bring you dwn. I'm just happy you wrote me. Everyone wrote me... ;D *is glad* "And Calafornia dreamin Is becomin our reality..." ~Mammas and Pappas. Wow, that was spontanious. P.S. I'll look into seeing that Grapey movie you speak of. P.P.S. I saw a rainbow today. Rainbows make me smile.

*sniffs* Why do I keep watching that damn movie?! Pretty soon I'm going to die, due to dehydration caused by crying so much. ....Later..... TASIA GOT POWER! AND AC! YAY! The A.C. part is really good, considering the heat index is 105 degrees Farenheit. Not including humidity, which is, if possible, even worse. But yay. I'm glad.

Wow, that's great, Fan! I mean, things like power and stuff are kind of reassuring because it brings you back to normality... Oh! Gilbert Grape- yeah. Most people are completely divided about the film. I really liked it, but you really have to get by Johnny's carrot top. And hey- Note that Leonardo DiCaprio is acting in it as a mentally impaired kid (so, I don't know how much acting was on his part ) so even though Johnny is the star, a lot of copies of it now also say that Leo is too, even though he doesn't really do that much.

SUPPOSING I RULED THE WORLD...and other musings
If I ruled the world
1) All people would be judged based on character rather than apperance, sex, belief, ethnicity, etc.
2) Animal cruelty and/or abandonment would be a criminal offence and the perpetrator would be heavily persecuted.
3) Number 2 excludes o'poosums, all of which would be rounded up, tagged, and set free in a gated reserve.
4) Having more than 2 children would be descouraged, though not illegal.
5) The following substances would be illegal: mustard, mustard seed, dill, and celery. It will be unlawful to have, cultivate, or buy any of those items.
6) Plastic surgery is reserved only for covering a scar, or similar.
7) Insurance will be no longer. If somone needs help, regardless of how much money they have, they will be given it readily.
8) We will all take a leaf out of Canada's book and settle all disputed peacefully and without weapons. If, as a last resrt, weapons are needed, only tranquilizers and the like will be used.
9) I would arrange a trip around the world to see all of you, picking up each person along the way. At the end of the trip, big party at my huge castle. I am, after all, a dictator. ;D
Ehem. All complaints and/or suggestions will be considered, but must be submitted in writing.
Note: As my trusted friends, you may have some power over the world as well. Just let me know if we need any new laws here or there...but remember! It must be submitted in writing!!!
More to come....

Any takers? No? Fine then. I'll rule the world by myself. And I was ready to bann clowns from Australia and everything. ;D THE MANY NAMES AND FACES OF FANTASIA Ok, so I only have one face. 'Tis a mere technicality. But I do have pleanty of names to go around. Some are for you and some are for me. Some are taken, some are earned, while others yet are spontaniously dished out. My most recent name is 'Target'. As I'm sure some of you have deduced, I love sports. It's soccer season! I play most positions competently, but I'm a good goalie. I play it more than half the time. There is another girl called [Fantasia] on my team. Oh, the confusion, my friends. So, being the goalie and being only one of two, I landed the nickname Target. Next name: I love Spanish. This is my first year taking it, and I've only been in it for a week and a half, but it's loads of fun. Yay, language! ;D My Spanish teacher wants us all to take up a Spanish name. Unfortunitely, [Fantasia] doesn't translate. So got a new name of my very own. Me llamo Chabela, y usted? .....yup. That's all, I suppose. Time for a song quote. Any of y'all listen to David Grey? "Please forgive me if i act a little strange For i know not what i do Feels like lightning running through my veins Every time i look at you"

Guess what, most beloved of all international friends? Another hurricane is heading straight for me. That's right, Hurricane Frances is on it's way. Stronger than Charley, with no width of Florida to slow it down 'fore it gets to my home. There's still debris on the streets from dear ol' Charles...and here comes his big sister. It's supposed to come Sat/Suday, so...Koko, if you read this, and I don't manage a weigh-in...don't hate me. And, if I don't get to a computer by Monday...assume the power's out. I promise I'll do my best to play weather girl and keep you up-to-date. All else I can say is...cross your fingers and send me virtual hugs. Best of luck to FLA. I'm doing alright. A bit shaky and lonely, for no good reason of course...I won a free phone today, complete with clock, FM radio, alarm and date-keeper. Yay. peace....only, I mean it. Oh! And P.S. Please oh please og PLEASE read (and review!) my TDSC story. I finally got it up, so ya....that's good. I do realise it's very short. What are ya gonna do.

*Big Hugs*
My grandmother lives in Ocala. While that area was spared much of Charlie's affects, I'm worried that it won't be the same this time. She'll probably leave again though and visit with my aunt and uncle up in western Georgia.

Hurricane Frances' projected course: See that little bump on the coast? In the middle of the state? That's me. I'm scared.

Whoa...looks like it'll pass closer to Ocala than Charlie did.
Hang in there. *Hugs*
